REGISTRATION FAQs

How do I register for classes?

Step 1 – Obtain a username and password by submitting a personal information form at the Admissions and Registration office with a valid photo ID.

Step 2 – Update your health records at the Student Health Center. Don’t forget to bring a copy of your most recent immunization record.

Step 3 – See an Academic advisor or counselor, if you need help selecting classes or deciding on a major.

Step 4 – Register for your courses online at mygcc.guamcc.edu.

Step 5 – Pay for your courses at the Cashier.

Step 6 – Obtain your student ID and parking decal at the Student Support office.

Step 7 - Purchase your books at the bookstore.

 

What if I don’t know what to major in?

See a counselor at the Student Services and Administration Building, 1st floor for assistance.

 

What degrees or certificates does GCC offer?

How much does it cost to take classes at GCC?

Each credit hour is currently $130. Student fees are $162. Full-time students who enroll in 12 credits can expect to pay approximately $1722 per regular semester.

 

When can I take the English and Math placement test?

You must pay $22 at the Cashier’s office, Student Services and Administration Building, then schedule the placement test with the Counseling Department in the same building.

 

Do I have to take the English and Math placement test?

All students who plan to pursue a degree or certificate must take the English and Math placement test prior to enrolling in more than 9 credits. Any student who wishes to enroll in a course that has an English or Math prerequisite must also take the Placement test.

 

How many classes can I take?

Students can register for up to 15 credits, which is usually 5 courses. Any student who plans to enroll in more than 15 credits must obtain approval from an Academic Advisor or a Counselor.

 

Do I have to go to school full-time?

No, students can choose to go to school part-time.

 

What time can I take classes?

GCC offers many courses throughout the day. Some courses start as early as 8am or as late as 8pm.

 

How do I register online?

If you have your username and password and there are no registration holds on your registration status, you can go to mygcc.guamcc.edu to register online. Click on the link below for instructions.

 

How do I change my schedule?

If you have your username and password and there are no registration holds on your online registration status, you can go to mygcc.guamcc.edu to change your schedule online. Click on the link below for instructions.

 

How do I drop my class?

If you have your username and password and there are no registration holds on your registration status, you can go to mygcc.guamcc.edu to change your drop your class online. Click on the link below for instructions.

 

How do I withdraw from a class?

To withdraw from a course, submit a Registration form to the Admissions and Registration office. Click on the link below for instructions.

 

When do I have to pay for classes?

Payment for courses are due before the first day of classes. A late fee of $37.00 will be charged if a student fails to make payment prior to the first day of classes.

 

How do I apply for graduation?

Submit an Application for Diploma to the Admissions and Registration office located in the Student Services and Administration building.

 

How do I declare my major?

Submit an Application for Admissions as a Declared student to the Admissions and Registration office located in the Student Services and Administration building.

 

How do I change my major?

Submit a Change of Major form to the Admissions and Registration office located in the Student Services and Administration building.

 

Can I add a second major?

Yes, students can declare a second major by submitting a Change of Major/Add a Second Major form to the Admissions and Registration office located in the Student Services and Administration building.

 

How do I transfer credits to GCC?

Submit an official transcript with an Evaluation Request form to the Admissions and Registration office located in the Student Services and Administration building. If you have not declared your major, you will also need to submit an Application for Admission as a Declared student form as well.

 

How do I transfer credits to another college/university?

Submit an Transcript request form to the Admissions and Registration office located in the Student Services and Administration building.

 

How do I know who my Academic Advisor is?

When you log into mygcc.guamcc.edu, click on the MyCourses Tab. On the right side, you will see the name of your Academic Advisor.

 

What if I forgot my username and/or password to log into MyGCC?

Present a valid photo ID to the Admissions and Registration office and they will provide your username and reset your password.

 

FINANCIAL AID FAQs

 

How do I apply for financial aid?

Apply for your Federal Student Aid PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

 

Where is the Financial Aid office?

Do I have to go to school full-time to receive Financial Aid or the Pell grant?

No, students to do not have to go to school full-time to received Financial Aid or Pell grant.

 

Are there any scholarships at GCC?

Are there any student loans available at GCC?

The GovGuam student loan is available each academic year. Click on the link below for more information.

 

Can I use my military educational benefits to pay for courses at GCC?

Are there any free tutoring services available?

Yes, students who qualify for Project AIM, receive free tutoring services for English and Math. Also, free English and Math tutoring is available through the respective departments. Click on the links below for more information.

 

Are there any accommodative services available for students with disabilities?

Yes, GCC provides reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities. Visit the Office of Accommodative Services located in the Student Services and Administration Building for more information. Click on the link below to view a campus map.
