Program Description
The Associate of Science Degree in Marketing provides students with the knowledge and skills required to obtain career-sustaining employment in a marketing profession and be successful in a marketing career that is increasingly reliant upon the use of technology in the performance of marketing functions.

Career Opportunities
Among the many career opportunities in marketing are sales associate, buyer, merchandiser, telemarketer, retail store supervisor, advertising assistant, and market researcher. The marketing program will equip students with the experience and technical skill necessary for rapid progression into mid-management positions. The E-Marketing, Entrepreneurship and International Marketing courses are specifically designed for aspiring and established entrepreneurs who have yet to tap into the E-retailing segment of the worldwide market.

Many marketing students enjoy participating in Delta Epsilon Chi, the collegiate division of Distributive Clubs of America (DECA). This student organization offers members the opportunity to participate in competitions, leadership training, and community service projects.

The GCC Advantage
The GCC Marketing faculty are all former industry professionals with close ties to marketing firms and professionals on island. These connections provide GCC students with work experience and practicums that in most cases lead to employment opportunities and careers in this dynamic and fast-paced industry.

Academic Advising
All students who declare a major are assigned an Academic Advisor. Students are strongly urged to visit your advisor, who can help you draft an educational plan with course sequencing that meets your personal, academic, and career goals.

Upon successful completion of the AS in Marketing program, students will be able to:

  • Broaden their academic background and improve their opportunities for advancement in the workplace through up-to-date technical instruction in marketing.
Program Mission
The mission of the Marketing program is to develop a marketing workforce addressing the emergent needs of a continually changing economic business environment in the Guam community and the Micronesian region.
