Guam Community College has a commitment to serve students and the community and we are extremely proud of the alumni who will always be a part of this institution's history.

Please keep us updated with news about yourself. The type of information we’re interested in, includes your education, career, interests, hobbies, family, etc. We welcome your ideas and comments regarding the development of an active and productive alumni association. We hope you will serve as our GCC "arm" into the community and island.

We encourage our alumni to give their time and talents to the College, as well as their dollars. GCC alumni may:

• Share their expertise in the classroom
• Help with fund-raising
• Participate in admission and recruiting activities
• Volunteer to provide assistance to students and graduates in the job search
• Serve as judges for activities within the College
• Serve as advisory members for our programs

Invitation to Special Events and Ceremonies—is yours when you register with the Development & Alumni Relations Office. Career Technical Education Week, Graduations, and Receptions, are a few of the special invitations you may receive.

FREE admission to our open house events.

FREE library privileges—Alumni may use the Learning Resource Center and its reference services including remote, on-line access. Alumni ID cards will soon be available which will enable the bearer to borrow one item for a period of 4 weeks. There is no expiration date but you must renew your information annually with the library. For more information visit www.guamcc.edu.

Career Services—Computerized Career Assessment & Planning, Resume Preparation Assistance, Interview Skills and Preparation, Free Online Job Postings for Employers, OnlineJob Listings & Resume Posting using Guam Community College, and annual Career Fair. Alumni Publication—Receive copies of the alumni newsletter which will be published twice a year to provide members with news of our Alumni and the College. Contributions from members on their accomplishments and other personal news are welcomed. For the first time, the Guam Community College’s Development & Alumni Relations Office celebrates the accomplishments of Alumni who have demonstrated the highest level of professional achievement and service to the community. We want to honor alumni who have been innovators and/or leaders in their field.

Last year, we announced the two Distinguished Alumni winners, Mr. Phillip Palomo Ada, Class of 1979 and 1987 and Mrs. Mary Sencion English, Class of 2006. We also wish to acknowledge the other nominees, Ms. Jennifer Muna-Aguon, a graduate of the Class of 81 who received her Associate in Computer Science and Kelley Jewell Meno, a graduate of the Class of 81 in the Computer Science Program.

2010 DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI NOMINATION “WALK OF FAME”


Eligibility
·         Any individual who has been an alumnus for a minimum of five (5) years and met at least one (1) of the following minimum requirements:
·         Graduated from any of the Guam Vocational & Technical High School/Guam Community College’s (GVT/GCC) secondary, post secondary or GED/Adult Education programs;
·         Earned at least 30 credit hours at GVT/GCC

Selection will be primarily based on materials submitted by a nominator, with varying consideration given to the following nomination qualifications:
·         Professional accomplishment;
·         Has philanthropic or public service to the community and/or college;
·         Has achieved recognition at a national level;

Awards
The awarded recipient will receive a “Walk of Fame” tile in their honor, which will be strategically located near the proposed Student Center, Anthony A. Leon Guerrero Allied Health Center, or Learning Resource Center; a certificate of recognition from the President of the Guam Community College; and featured in a news release and photo of the recipient distributed to the local media for publication.

Nominating Criteria
This is your opportunity to make your nominee shine – in your own words. 
·         Submit a Nomination Form – completely filled out.
·         Submit with the Nomination Form a write-up and/or supporting documents on why the individual deserves to be the   “GVT/GCC Distinguished Alumni” - maximum two (2) pages.
·         To give your nomination the most positive consideration, be sure to address all eligibility criteria.

Image Release
By submittal of this nomination, I authorize the Guam Community College, and those acting within its authority, to, at no charge, record my participation, appearance or performance on videotape, audiotape, film, photography or any other medium; use my name, likeness, voice and biographical material in connection with these recordings; and copy and distribute the recording in whole or in part solely for education related purposes as they deem appropriate. An image release form must also be filled out by the nominee prior to awarding.  (See attached)

Submission
Materials must arrive at the GCC Development and Alumni Relations office at the address listed below no later than 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Submissions received after that deadline will not be considered, unless extended by the Development & Alumni Relations Office.
